Insulated Impact Glass

Impact-resistant glass is comprised of two panes of glass bonded together with a special interlayer of clear polyvinyl butyral (PVB). A combination of this glass and vinyl frames provides amazing protection that can withstand blow after blow by a nine-pound, 2 x 4 beam traveling at 34 miles per hour, followed by hurricane-force winds.

Ineffective Hurricane Options

During the major hurricanes that hit the southeast in 2004-2005, there were no reported home failures of impact windows and doors. However, there were a great many failures associated with plywood protection, and a number of homes failed that had shutters protecting the windows, primarily due to faulty installation.

Advantages of Vinyl vs. Standard Windows

Our vinyl windows lead the way in proven impact performance. Their durability starts with double-strength glass that’s laminated so it is able to withstand high winds and flying debris without the need for plywood or shutters.
